I've known Norm for a long time, and he is always fun to work with and watch! His magic is amazing and his personality is friendly. He does a fabulous show whether for kids, families, or adults only. His material is always situation appropriate. Whatever your event is, he will do a great show for you!

It has been my pleasure to have known Norm for many years. Our paths have crossed many times. It has always been my pleasure to have performed at many of the same events over the years. As an entertainer myself, I believe he is one of the finest magicians the twin cities has to offer. His shows are not only entertaining but have a wonderful message to them. He has a marvelous way of weaving fun and magic with a gentle amount of lessons on kindness to one another and involvement in our community. In a time of increasing bullying and impatience with one another, he incorporates values in his shows. Thank you Norm for being a shining example of wholesome family entertainment. You make me proud to be an entertainer. Celeste Gagliardi Rainbow Entertainment Productions

Top 5 ways to motivate young readers.

Top 5 ways to motivate young readers.

1) Discover your child’s interests and find books about that subject. Does the youngster like baseball or soccer – get a book on that topic. Are they interested in fish, horses or dogs – discover more through reading.

2) Cook something together. A cookbook shows the ways to make a very tasty treat so the child discovers the benefit of reading as a connection to the reward. Create a delicious pizza or bake and decorate some cookies. Learn to make a fancy cake! It is fun and this project demonstrates the value of reading.

3) Make a craft together with the help of a book. There are books that show how to do almost anything. Make origami, paper airplanes or bird feeders. Try to create some art, build a kite or make jewelry – it is fun and shows the value of discovering ideas from books.

4) Learn a new skill from a book. Yes you can look into a book and learn to do magic tricks, balloon twisting or dance from a book. Try a book on yo-yo or knitting. Your skill could end up being a lifelong hobby.  You can even learn to juggle from a book!  It is fun and soon you will have a new talent to share with friends and family, and at the same time motivate that young reader.

5) Write your own book! Take pictures of your family and mix them into a story of your own with photos taken from magazines or art you have drawn. Write a funny story like Dr. Seuss or a mysterious Scooby Doo type mystery. Interview a friend, uncle  or grandparent and write a book about them. Write about a favorite place or memory. It does not have to be long… keep it simple and make it fun.  The writing process helps to encourage an understanding of how an author creates and will motivate reading.

Youngsters learn best when it is fun and a deep love of reading is developed in many ways.  A child who does well reading will do well in school.

This is a short article by kid's comedian and author MagicNorm. His books are found in libraries all over the nation. He recently did a book signing and magic show at the Red Balloon Bookstore in St. Paul, MN. MagicNorm.com
