Just Another Manic Monday
Actually there is a medium list of things to do before heading off to a show this afternoon. But it is a fun list.
Main item is to try to shoot a 45 minute instructional video on how I do a comedy table cloth pull. Many have asked how I do this trick and so it will be released on DVD around the 1st of the new year. I speak at conventions for entertainers and help them develop their acts with comedy writing techniques and magic inventions I have developed. So this DVD will be one more item available with my methods for adding comedy to their act.
Many artists will use these magic tricks in their birthday party shows, school shows or other special events.

Today I am preparing for my next event at a magician and entertainer's convention. This time it will be in Indiana. I will teach magic inventions as well as be the featured performer on their big Saturday night show. I enjoy bringing some laughs to other entertainers and spreading some fun.
Many entertainers gather at events like this to learn new routines and sharpen their skills. I teach comedy writing and developing new material as well as comedy magic tricks that I've invented.

Today I also I got an important letter composed to help High Schools in their planning of special events this year ahead.
Beyond that it was good to get a lot of yard work and housework done today. I am a bit behind and it feels like spring cleaning time! That feels great. Lots of exercise from the work and a bit of office work done too. Lots of fresh outdoor air. The perfect day! More at MagicNorm.com.

Magic is a Blast at the Fair
One county fair that has had me 3 times over the years is the Itasca County Fair. The Secretary of the fair Ronald said, "Norm's Magic show was great... we'll invite him back again." Magic is for all Ages
The next day I was entertaining a group of Senior Citizens in Inver Grove Heights, MN. These wonderful folks laughed and had a great time seeing their friends become part of the show. I felt great warmth from these sweet people. The gentleman who invited me saw me at his church last year and recommended me. I was so glad as I really enjoyed this group.
Magic is fun as it makes everyone feel young at heart. The comedy and laughter combines to be a very good medicine. Discover more at MagicNorm.com about the Minnesota Magician.

Tips & Ideas For a Successful Birthday Party!

By: MagicNorm
Tips & Ideas for To Make your next Birthday Party Memorable, exciting, Easy and successful! - Copyright 2010 - MagicNorm.com
Here are some great ideas to make your Birthday Party really shine.
A Themed Party - Give it a theme, such as pirate, sports, back to the 60’s, beach party, superhero, magic, baseball, rock star, sports cars or circus. You may even invite the guests to wear costumes. Find some music to fit the theme.
Invitations! Your child’s birthday party invitation is a great way to generate excitement for the big bash! You need to start with the who, what and where. Your child can hand draw an illustration or write something like, “Come to the Party!” You can put a picture of your child on the invitation. The invitation can fit the theme.
In the invitation you might want to consider an inspirational quote to make it uplifting and fun. If you have a theme for the party it is easy to find a quote that will fit. If the theme is your child’s favorite cartoon character or superhero take a quote from that character and put it on the invitation. If you have a sports themed party you can take a quote from your child’s favorite athlete or a NASCAR champion.
Decorations - Keep the theme going with decorations for the party. Consider party favors, pencils and a cake with the theme on it. The colors of the decorations such as napkins, plates, balloons, ribbons and streamers can match the theme colors. Many kids enjoy helping to decorate.
Balloons on the Mailbox – Tie balloons to the mailbox or out front somewhere so your guests can easily find your home. It also generates excitement.
Piñata! The Piñata is a great tradition and there are many to choose from that will fit your theme. But for younger children it is a good idea to make sure your child understands how the game works. One party for a 4 year old girl had a Dora the Explorer Piñata and when the kids started hitting Dora with a stick, she burst into tears. When Mom picked it out the youngster probably thought she got to keep the Dora and not whack it and tear it apart.
Birthday Cupcakes! Try cupcakes instead of cake. This is an easy and economical idea that saves you time as the serving of cupcakes is a breeze. You could still have a larger cake with candles that is shared by the family later, but cupcakes can be passed out fast and easy. The cupcakes can have sprinkles or candy on top with the color of frosting to match the theme.
Starting the Party! Everyone arrives at different times so it is a good idea to have a project or activity they can join. A great way to keep the kids having fun as they arrive is to decorate their own take home bags.
Make Gift Bags! This is a fun activity the kids can participate in as they arrive. Have a table laid out with stickers and colors and let them make their own bags complete with their name so they can keep track of it. The children who arrive later will have less time to decorate but this will keep everyone occupied until things get underway in a more organized fashion. An “Under the Sea” party could have the bags decorated with blue color crayons and then have the kids put fish stickers on them.
Make Magic Wands! If you have a magic themed party a great craft idea when they arrive is to make magic wands. Roll up black construction paper and use masking tape to make the white tips on the ends. The tape keeps the want rolled in place and they have a fun wand to take home. If they bring them to the magic show they can learn a simple trick with the wand or help the magician from time to time when the magician asks them to wave their wands.
A Cool Comedy Magic Show fits in with many themes! For example, if you pick a cartoon character or super hero, pick up a few erasers or stickers with that character on it and the birthday child can make them magically come out of the hat! Then your child can pass out the magical stickers to the guests. Your child is the star of the show in Mr. Norm’s Comedy Magic show. It is fun and funny and he can compliment your theme. There are many opportunities for fun photos in this memorable magic show.
Noisemakers – You may want to think twice before giving out whistles or other noisemakers. They are fun, but can be a real headache for you after about 15 minutes. There are lots of other cool and inexpensive gift items.
Pets – You probably will want to protect your pet and keep it in a different part of the house.
A Simple Control Tip - You may want to have a coach’s whistle to help you quickly get attention. One small toot means listen up! This is so much easier than yelling to get attention when everyone is full of excitement. Kids respond like they do to a coach at school. Hang it around your neck.
Sticker Rewards - Another great idea is to have a roll of stickers and when you say the magic words, “please have a seat” everyone sits on the floor as fast as they can and the ones who do it quick and quiet get a sticker… Yay, everyone wins and gets a sticker as then all quickly sit on the carpet.
A Great Give Away! For girl’s parties consider Mardi Gra style, bead necklaces. The girls love them. For boys its pirate’s treasure! A magician can make the necklaces appear from the hat in a magical way.

Comedy Magic brings life to Company Picnics and Holiday Parties.
Comedy Magic brings life to company picnics and holiday parties. Magic makes people feel like a kid inside and brings a smile as they enjoy the comedy a magician brings.
Last night I did a program for a very fun group of women. These friends get together every so often and have a evening together with fine food and fun. Last year it was a psychic entertainer who had them mesmerized with his uncanny and comical predictions.
This year they invited me and I had as much fun as they did. They were very outgoing and had fun being together so there was a lot of inside humor and asides that had them all laughing like crazy throughout the eventing. They enjoyed seeing their friends help out with the magic and I enjoyed watching jaws drop as the tricks unfolded. They were very vocal in their gasps of amazement and this kind of feedback a performer likes to hear.
If you are planning a dinner party or banquet in your home give me a call. I have entertained for several small computer companies in the home of the owner and the party had a blast as they interacted with the magic entertainment.
I also do larger company banquets and events with the stage magic and comedy that really wows them. Check out MagicNorm.com for a magician in Minneapolis or St. Paul, or if you want magic in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The photo is from my appearance at Mendakota C0untry Club in Mendota Heights, MN for their salute to the St. Paul Winter Carnival. I had a lot of fun entertaining at the Club over the years and this was an especially fun event as the entire royalty showed up for the event. All ages enjoy comedy magic. For corporate banquets it takes people back to feeling like a kid inside as they laugh and enjoy the mystery and magic tricks.

Comedy Magician Entertains in Singapore
From July 5- 15th I enjoyed the friendly hospitality of Singapore. This is a land filled with great people. Very kind and welcoming. This country is the largest port city in the world. There are many sites to see and I enjoyed museums with history and art from the many cultures that have influenced this area.
One evening I spoke at the Magicians club and over 50 turned out and were very enthusiastic about my tricks and comedy routines. I also performed as Normondo at the end of the evening and they raved about this comedy magic act.
I also performed at a festival and at a very cool theater for several comedy magic shows. One included the mayor of the city in the audience. Magic has been very god to this Minnesota Magician. Learn more about bringing comedy magic to your birthday party or special event at MagicNorm.com.

Lots to be Thankfull For
Buffet believes that children need to be encouraged to start businesses and try new ideas. I have a lot to be thankful for as I have been run my own business for over 28 years.
These are the good old days. We need to enjoy our children and the blessings we have. We need to train them to be strong, diligent and work hard for a better future.
As the Scouts say, "Do your best." That is one of the most important things we can pass on to our children.

I do many scouting events each year. Recently for a Girl Scout group in Oakdale. In my program I encourage the kids to excel and do their best.
In my Magic of Reading show for schools I enjoy motivating readers to get excited abut their studies and to do their best in school.
In my Library show I do magic that motivates kids to get excited about reading. The next performance is Wednesday morning at 10:30AM at the St. Louis Park Library. Come have some fun with the Reading Magic Show that I created over 28 years ago.
This show is sponsored in part by the Hennepin County Library System. I have been invited back again and again every year to present my motivational magic show for the many libraries. Now it is over 25 years of getting kids excited about reading. Learn more at MagicNorm.com

Entertaining in Canada
I was M.C. for two shows as well as for the introductory event. My M.C. work is basically stand up comedy and some prop gags. I also did some magic that was well received. The people were so appreciative and kind in their comments after.
They were enthusiastic about the comedy magic classes that I taught. I share many original routines and magic tricks I've devised and they were very positive about the magic in their reviews.
I have worked this convention more than 7 times and always enjoy bringing some smiles to the attendees each time. I look forward to entertaining at your next event or convention.

Mikael Rudolph Memorial Service

Last Friday evening was the memorial service for wonderful comedy entertainer and physical comedian Mikael Rudolph. He passed away at 51 years old, after a hard battle with cancer. He was someone I've know for over 25 years. I studied movement, and physical comedy with him several times. He was a student of Marcel Marceau and was highly praised by his teacher.
Mikeal worked the Renaissance Festival for many years and was named their best new act and won many other awards for excellence. He included magic and comedy in his amazing act.
The following are thoughts written after the Memorial.
Thank you for the sweet and touching tribute to Mikael on Friday. The video and the comments and the dancing and the mime and music were all so sweet.
I had wonderful Mikael dreams that night. I woke up three times and remembered the vivid dreams that included hanging out with Mikael and doing things and going places... they were all new, by that I mean not memories of the past, but very cool new adventures. I figure they were wish fulfillment type dreams. But I like to think of them as a taste of what heaven must be like... plenty of time to be with cool people on cool adventures. Bless you Mikael.

I have several different magic shows so I am able to bring a different one so the children and families enjoy a whole new show next year.
They also are bringing me in for several shows over the evening of Halloween this October, 2010. It is a lot of fun to be a Minnesota magician. Audiences in Minneapolis, MN and across the Midwest enjoy the comedy Magic and fun.

Magic is Fun
I like to motivate the youngsters with my presentation on the value of reading. I see one of my gifts as being an encourager. When kids are encouraged to read they will do well in all their subjects in school.
Magic is a great metaphor and it grabs people's attention and gets them thinking about the fun they can have reading about hobbies, interests and jobs. Look for the show coming to a library near you this summer.

Young Readers enjoy Norm's Book

Today I have the joy of dropping off about 30 books to a school in Maple Grove. I did three shows at this school recently for over 900 students and many kids wanted to have their own copy of one of my books autographed.
The library at this school has a number of my books already, and many students check them out. The librarian was excited to have a Minnesota author and magician come and speak to the students and encourage them to read. For nearly 30 years I have motivated young readers with a comical magic show that grabs their attention.
I bring comedy and magic to audiences of all ages and tailor my magic show to each group. You can get a copy of any of my books at Amazon.com.

Comedy Magic is fun for Parties

I love to entertain at parties for families. Many are celebrating a special event, birthday or block party. Over the past 28 years I've brought comedy, magic and fun to all sorts of events.
Major corporations such as US Bank, Deluxe Check, Spire Credit Union, 3M, Marsden, Best Buy, Imation and Ceridian have used my magic to entertain their guests for annual family picnics, holiday parties and staff meetings. The summer company picnic is a great way for families of employees to get together and have some fun. This team building is a great moral builder and encourages the team.
As a Minnesota Magician I enjoy bringing laughs and fun to special events. More on this magical and fun way to bring people together at MagicNorm.com

Spring is Here!

Lovely day with lots of warm breezes blowing through. I got screen windows up and tomatoes, cucumbers, daiseys and habanero hot peppers planted inside. Our home becomes a greenhouse this time of year and the plants will be ready to put into the garden in late May.
A U. of M. Professor / scientist was on the radio last week and said that March in Minnesota is a wild month. High has been as high as 80 and the low has been 35 below zero! So we are in for more snow and rain and etc, but that is Minnesota... never a dull moment.
March in Minnesota is sort of like a wild comedy magic show, expect the unexpected! I like to surprise kids with the comedy magic... pulling snowflakes from their ears in the summer and making a snowman magically appear in the show (OK, the snowman is only 2 feet tall, but the kids ooh and ahh!)
I like to make laughs and spread smiles with my comedy magic. This weekend included a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Career fair in Oakdale. It was nice to meet and encourage the enthusiastic scoutsn to do their best.
If you need comedy and magic for a party or festival check out the website MagicNorm.com.

Magic and Fun for Everyone
People need some laughs and a good mystery every so often, and a magic show grabs attention and gives us a sense of wonder. This is why so many adults come up after my magic show and say that they had more fun than the kids. Laughter is good medicine, and combined with a puzzling magic trick this is a great combination.
I present my magical entertainment for many family gatherings. Cub Scouts, School PTA family nights and festivals. All ages enjoy the comedy and fun. Last weekend I presented a show for a family birthday party and the kids were having a blast and the 15 or so parents were having a blast watching the kids reaction to the tricks. Of course, every so often I would catch a parent with a look of amazement on their face.
Let me bring my Minnesota magic to your next family gathering or special event. MagicNorm.com

Comedy and Magic Bring Laughs to Winter Show

I did six shows at the Winter Show and Rodeo and had the pleasure of sharing the stage with future country music great, Greg Hager. I say future great as he is someone who is about to take off in that field and just is waiting for his break. he has three albums recorded in Nashville that are filled with his original lyrics and music. He writes from the heart and his songs have a real feel for the working man because he is a hard working guy. Raised on a North Dakota Dairy Farm and he still works in farming and part time at a implement dealer when there are not crops to attend to. His music has the feel of cowboy music, so is a bit different from modern country western. I hope the best for him and you can sample his tracks and learn more at GregHager.com
We had packed houses for the shows here at the Wonder Show and I enjoyed seeing the children, teens, parents and grandparents enjoy the comedy magic show. It is my joy to bring laughs to fairs, festivals and special events. For more information please check: MagicNorm.com
